This is the dinner plan for tonight with Ken and Hazel at Kent Ridge Guild House. We are all lovers of Peranakan food, it probably reminds us of our countless road trip to Malacca. Every visit to Malacca, we are sure to find some hidden treasures and places to eat. Let's see if the dinner buffet tonight would bring back memories of Malacca....
The Baboon House ...
This was our last road trip to Malacca last year in July. We discovered The Baboon House along the streets where we usually park our car. I bet we never regretted stopping by the cafe for a quick rest and coffee, it was an awesome and cool place to chill out! As you enjoy the Vietnamese coffee, you are free to browse around. Remember to get your camera ready as you will be surprised by the hidden gems in this heritage cafe.
Here are some of the hidden treasures taken by my "OrOr" aka blacky cam.
Our friends, Hazel and Kenneth.
Lunch @ Nancy's Kitchen ...
Hazel and Ken brought us here during our first road trip to Malacca. The food here is delicious, very flavorful and so savory that you will probably end up with two bowls of white rice. Among all, my favorite would have been the duck soup and fried omelette. Ayam Buah keluak (black nut) is another hot favorites among my friends. If you are in Malacca, how can you not have their local Chendol for dessert!

Along Jonker Street ...
Jonker Street is a small street in the Chinatown of Malacca. You are likely to find some heritage shop houses and plenty of souvenirs shops and independence stalls along the street. There are a wide selection of food choices too and cafes along Jonker depending what you like to have. Last year, Hard Rock Cafe actually opened its Rock Shop along Jonker and the cafe will likely be ready by end of 2012!
Chendolious ...
You will never miss Jonker88 as they are always pack with long queue outside the shop.
2 signature dishes I love – Assam Laksa and Chendol. Chendol is prepared with ingredients such as coconut, red beans, shaved ice topped with generous serving of gula melaka (palm sugar syrup). Tastes really delightful and I call it Chendolious!
