Hummerstons

Another lazy Sunday, signifies my long weekend is coming to an end soon. We headed to Hummerstons for our sunday brunch at Robertson Walk. No reservation allowed, fortunately our friends were there early and secured a good lounge seats by the bar. I have been longing to visit Hummerstons for a long long time having read many reviews about the restaurant, good food and finally I am here.

The brunch orders look amazing! From eggs benedict to burger, fries and juice. It seems that I am the odd one out, no main course just a dessert and tea for brunch. Well, if you didn't know this was my second breakfast for the day. Not an easy choice to avoid good food, as you work hard for the week this seems to be the best compensation.

Their menu is slightly on the pricy end but I think everyone enjoys the food, generous serving and tasty food. I had a baked apple tart served on top of a giant macaroon with a scoop of ice cream. The dessert is a little too sweet for my tooth but my white lily ginger tea helps to create a balance.

Besides enjoying the food, four of us were so engrossed with Draw Free game. A free app which you can download from iPhone AppStore. Highly addictive, it is a draw and guessing game which tests your creativity. Oh my, I feel we can "nua" forever in indoor as it started raining outside. We were just too comfortable by the couch.

Loving long weekend ...

Chris is truly enjoying the long weekend! All started on Thursday evening right after work. Met up with my ex-colleagues for dinner at Jumbo, another adhoc arrangement. Abundance of yummy seafood just for the four of us! We got a good amount of discount using a voucher that offers 50% off the crabs. A chilli and a black pepper crab isn't too much at all. After dinner we moved on to Brewerkz. I didn't know it is just next door to Jumbo, perfect place to chill out for some beer and wings. The feeling is good to stay connected with your old friends and getting to know how they have been. Well, dinner started almost 6.30pm and ended closed to 11+, what a long night. Amazingly i am more awake than any other nights!

Vietnamese, my love
This afternoon, had lunch at Long Phung Vietnamese Restaurant in Joo Chiat. A friend of mine recommended this place to me. It has been a long time since I had a good authentic vietnamese meal. I ordered my usual favorites like Spring rolls (6 for $9), Mango salad ($6) and Iced cold milk coffee ($3).

Their spring rolls are so crispy delicious, mango salad topped with peanuts, prawns and pork has the same taste and seasoning as a VIET restaurant I used to frequent many years back in Marina Square. Sadly the restaurant had closed their outlets in Singapore. Gladly I found a replacement today. This place is a obvious choice, I knew I will be back for more. The restaurant offers a wide choices in their menu. I left the restaurant with a additional order of wings to go, thats just how good it is. HAHA, I no longer has to force myself having Hong Mao won tan noodle since I am never a fan of it. When I return to Joo Chiat the next time, it is going to be vietnamese food. Thank you Hazel!

Everyday feels like a breeze ....

Time flew! Everyday seems to be passing by like a breeze ever since I started work three weeks ago. I must admit, it has been awesome so far.

Friday, I joined the team out for lunch. The food kept me dizzy for the whole afternoon. It was a heavy, hearty and flavorful lunch at a Philippine food stall somewhere in Katong area. When the team mentioned Pata madness, it kind of brings me back to good old memories of Payday madness. I missed the good old days.

After clarification, I discovered what pata is all about. It is not the india roti prata I imagined to be, in Philippine context it  refers to Pork Knuckle. There were 12 of us for the lunch trip, we ordered a total of 4 Pork knuckles to share.  OMG, I can't believe it! Thinking back, my first taste of pork knuckle was at one of the Spanish restaurant in Vivo City on my birthday. This pork knuckle was amazing! Well seasoned and so crispy on the outside and the meat is so tender that I cannot resists having more of the skin. There was another side dish, looks like a cabbage veg soup which I assumed I would not like it at all. To my surprise, I finished the whole bowl of soup.

They serve authentic filipino food, I took their name card hoping one day I can bring my chinese friends along to enjoy their delicious cuisine. This is where you can find them:

Salad day ...

Weekend seems to pass quickly or rather time is! I have been catching up on my sleep these two weeks, especially on Saturday. Haven't been blogging much, busy with work and getting sufficient rest seems to be more vital than anything else now.

Anyway, today I had a relaxing day at Vivo City having breakfast and window shopping with my boy and we watched a show too, Salmon Fishing in the Yeman.

Synopsis
A romantic, contemporary fable, SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN is the tale of government employee Dr Alfred, or Fred, Jones (Ewan McGregor), a rather introverted scientist at the Department of Fisheries and Agriculture. Trudging along in his day job, with his marriage stagnating, his world is suddenly thrown into turmoil when he's drawn into a scheme hatched by a fly fishing-obsessed Yemeni Sheikh (Amr Waked) who dreams of achieving the seemingly impossible - introducing salmon to the wadis of the Yemen.

When I got home, before i knew it was 9++ already! Dinner tonight was prepared simple and healthy, yes dining in for the first time. Can't remember when was the last time we had dinner at home. We tossed some salad and rockets with chucks of roasted chicken and fruits (pear, blueberries and cranberries) topped with white wine vinegar as dressing. Accompanied with a bottle of Australia Pink Moscato and chips, wala! I must admit the wine was a good choice as it matches the salad really well. Honestly, I have been trying to reduce my carbo intake each day hoping to shed some weight. Guess I haven't been seeing much progress, muffin top will likely stay with me for a while.

Before I go, adding a new tea collection from Marks and Spencer. Pure peppermint, naturally caffeine free so you can enjoy it anytime of the day.
